Dr. Jayapriya Ramas

Dr. Jayapriya Ramas has worked in the field of General, Laparoscopic & Gastrointestinal surgery for the past 11 years. She began her surgical career at Apollo hospitals Chennai in the year 2006 where she was mentored by Dr. Patta Radhakrishna(Senior Consultant, Surgical Gastroenterology) in both Laparoscopic and open abdominal operations. She then obtained her formal training in Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgery from World Laparoscopy Hospital. She had a stint at Lilavati hospital Mumbai as a trainee in Gastrointestinal Surgery following which she joined as a Consultant in Surgical Gastroenterology at SRM Institutes for Medical Science(SIMS), Chennai where she worked for 5 years. She further worked as a Faculty at Cancer Institute, Adyar Chennai in the department of Gastrointestinal & HPB oncosurgery, where she gained further experience in treating Gastrointestinal cancers. Her areas of expertise are Day care laparoscopic surgery for gall bladder stones, hernia and appendicitis.The common procedures that she performs are Laparoscopic(lap) gall bladder removal, lap appendectomy, lap and open hernia surgery, surgery for piles, fissure & fistula in ano. She also treats cancers of the GIT such as carcinoma stomach, small intestine, colorectal cancer, etc. She has a special interest in complicated abdominal operations and emergencies - pancreatitis, jaundice and reoperative surgery(when something goes wrong due to a previous surgery). Being a lady, she is a much sought after surgeon by the womenfolk in this part of the country.
